While listening to 'She loves rock and roll' we'd like to focus on drummer Alan Lacey. Sadly, Alan died of heart failure back in February and our thoughts go out to his lovely wife Jan.
I personally had a long association with Alan going back to the late sixties and early seventies in a band called 'Wind of Change' and for a sort while we backed a singer called Guy Darrel. Then for many years Alan played in an outfit called 'Free man Banned'. We teamed up again in 2006 when I was putting together our first Uncle Figgis CD, "Leaving from Platform One". Alan was a very technical drummer who sat behind a huge kit with up to 20 cymbals. Thanks to technology Alan, the music never dies.
'Cruel Selina' gives us the opportunity to profile keyboard whizz Steve Wells. His boogie woogie piano on Cruel Selina is outstanding setting the scene for a real fun number enjoyed by all the band.
Steve provides superb and sometimes subtle keyboard backings on many of the Uncle Figgis tracks as well as some backing vocals with a strong, yet welcome input on the production side.
Enjoy listeneing
